Ben Hur

5 July 2019–13 July 2019

Company of Ten

Main Stage

The holy absorbing story of the struggle of Ben-Hur played at breakneck speed with sincerity and conviction by four actors. Scenes include the chariot race, a sea battle with chained galley slaves and real water, and a frenzied Roman orgy. Actual miracles are performed live on stage.

The Evening Standard said, ‘Patrick Barlow’s small-scale take on this epic tale is a palpable hit.’ For the Daily Telegraph, it was simply ‘very funny’. The Guardian admired the ‘sight gags, prop gags, backstage rivalry gags, collapsing scenery gags… No meta-theatrical joke is safe.’
